Inspection > Inspection Worksheets

Navarik Inspection provides three types of worksheets: nomination created worksheets, inspector created worksheets (ICW), and cargo assurance worksheets (CAW).

info

Inspector created worksheets (ICW), cargo assurance worksheets (CAWs) and worksheets created from nominations contain the same information. The differences: ICWs are created by inspectors and CAWs are created by cargo assurance users, where as nomination created worksheets are generated once a nomination is issued by an operator. An ICW creates a draft nomination. Once the inspector submits the ICW to the operator, the normal nomination process takes over. A CAW is not linked to any nomination at all.

Nomination Created Worksheets

Inspection worksheets are automatically created once a nomination is issued and accepted. The required information in the worksheet is based on what the operator entered into the nomination.

When the operator creates the nomination, she selects a nomination type with default selections for required quality and quantity tests and time logs. If one of these sections is not required as per the nomination, it is not required in the inspection worksheet. Note that the required information in an inspection worksheet cannot be changed.

The operator may request a retest or issue a parcel revision in the nomination, even if the work has been finished and invoiced. In both cases, a worksheet revision is created. The new worksheet is still linked to any nominations or invoices.

If an operator does make a revision, the operator receives an email notification of the change. For more information, see Requesting a Retest for an Inspection Worksheet and Nomination Revisions.

Deleting an Inspection Worksheet

An inspection worksheet cannot be deleted.  Even if the nomination is rescinded, the inspection worksheet is marked as rescinded and is not deleted.

Inspector Created Worksheets (ICW)

Inspector created worksheets are created by an inspector.  The required information in the worksheet is based which fields the system owner requires.

The ICW can be used for trading activities, such as requesting a sampling of storage. A trader can request tests from an inspection company to see if a grade is on-spec. The inspector creates the worksheet without waiting for an issued nomination. The ICW allows for an iterative process since the inspector and trader may need to do multiple blendings  to bring the grade in-line with commercial requirements.

When the inspector creates a worksheet, he selects an inspection worksheet type with default selections for the required quality, quantity, and time log information. He can choose which quality tests should were performed. The inspector can add multiple samplings in one worksheet, allowing Navarik Inspection to capture all interim inspection activity as well as the final results. This information capture helps for accurate invoicing and tracking trending metrics.

The inspector creates the worksheet, then submits the ICW to the operator. Until the ICW is submitted, the operator sees an "ICW Draft" nomination and is not able to edit it until the ICW. This prevents the operator and inspector from editing the same record and overwriting each others' changes.

Once the ICW is submitted, the operator can edit and issue the nomination as well as revise the nomination.

Cargo Assurance Worksheets (CAWs)

Cargo Assurance worksheets are created by Cargo Assurance users. The required information in the worksheet is based on the type of parcel the worksheet belongs to and on the worksheet configuration.

In the case where a parcel is loaded, discharged, or lightered but a third-party inspector is not hired to inspect the cargo, the CAW can be used to record the parcel's quantity and/or quality information into the system without having to create any nomination. The quantity and quality information is usually obtained from the vessel master. The main purpose for using a CAW is to include a parcel to reconcile a voyage's losses or gains.

When the cargo assurance user creates the CAW, he selects the parcel it belongs to from the voyages list or the voyage details page. The parcel type determines the default selections for the required quality and quantity information. Time log information are not included in a CAW. When saving the quantity and quality information, there is no acceptance process for CAWs. Also, the user may update the recorded data as many times as needed.

info

ICWs and CAWs both follow a two-step data input process where the worksheet is first configured before the quantity and/or quality information can be entered. The major difference between CAWs and worksheets created from nominations and ICWs is a nomination is not created for CAWs. CAWs are associated with voyage parcels, not nominations.
