Inspection > Inspection Worksheets > Notice of Loss (NOL)
When you submit the worksheet with losses or gains outside the defined threshold, a dialog box appears confirming the quantities. You have the option of entering a comment and proceeding with the submission or returning to the worksheet to edit the quantities before submitting again. If you choose to continue with the worksheet submission with losses or gains outside the accepted thresholds, Navarik Inspection sends a Notice of Loss (NOL) to the operator and cargo assurance via email.
An NOL will be generated if the system detects any of the following losses or gains:
| ▪ | ship to shore |
| ▪ | in-transit |
| ▪ | shore to shore |
For every inspection worksheet submitted with quantity results, the system determines the ship to shore loss or gain. In-transit and shore to shore losses or gains are determined when quantity results for a discharge or lightering parcel are submitted. In this case, the system attempts to auto-match this parcel with its corresponding predecessors and if successful, calculates the in-transit and shore to shore losses or gains. Any on-board and remaining on-board quantities are taken into consideration when evaluating the shore to shore losses or gains. If a corresponding match cannot be found, the system uses the load quantities specified in the discharge worksheet to calculate the losses or gains.
See Loss Calculations for more information about calculating losses or gains.
