For voyages with losses or gains and for voyages where claims are received from counter-parties, further investigation may be necessary. Loss Control is where these investigations are managed within Navarik Inspection.

A voyage may or may not have an investigation. An investigation may be associated with only one voyage. In other words, an investigation may not span multiple voyages. It may, however, involve more than one grade or product, depending on the cargo transferred in the voyage.

When Investigations Are Automatically Created

Usually, loss investigations are created by the user when the need arises. However, for some customers, investigations are created automatically by the system when any of the loss calculations result in a threshold violation. For other customers, they are not created automatically. This is a customer-specific setting.
