Snippets are pieces of text that you can reuse. If you always want to put in the same text about a grade or a disclaimer about the work, you can use a snippet. Once you select a snippet in a field, you can edit it without affecting the master snippet.

When you need to edit a snippet, any edits to the snippet are not made to the records that the snippet is already used in. The record is a snapshot of that transaction at a point in time and needs to remain unchanged to provide an audit trail.
