Inspection > Catalogue > Slates, Quality Tests, and Test Methods > Create a Slate
When you are creating a slate, the system helps you check for similar or duplicate slates already available. Once you type in the slate name, the similar slates are displayed to the left of the slate fields.
The system compares the slates by comparing the slate names, the test names or if the slate you are creating uses a subset of another slate's tests. If a slate with the same name is found, you must change the name of the slate you are creating before you can save the slate. The system only checks the slates that you have access to.
For example, if you are adding tests ABC, MNO, and XYZ to Slate 123 and these same tests are used in slate 456 along with other tests, you can use this slate in the nomination and remove the tests from the parcel that are not applicable. This helps cut down on the duplicated tests that you need to maintain in the system.

If you have a private trade, you can create a slate that is private. While you're creating the slate, mark the Share With as Private. |
Any test methods and quality tests you want to add to a slate need to be created first, before you create a slate.
To create a slate
| 1. | Select Catalogue>Slates. |
The Slates list appears.
| 2. | Select Actions>Create or |
| 3. | Fill in the fields. |
In the software, the required fields are marked with an asterisk (*). Since each company can have its own required fields, please look for the asterisk (*) for the required fields. You can look up more information on the fields in Slates, Quality Tests, and Methods Fields. When you are creating a slate, the system helps you check for similar or duplicate slates already available. | 4. | To add the slate for multiple regions, click the plus sign |
| 5. | In the Methods list, select the methods that can be used for this slate. You can select one or more methods. Those that are not selected are not displayed in inspection worksheets and nominations. |
| 6. | Add any file attachments. When you add the slate to a parcel, the attachment is linked to the parcel. When you email the nomination, the attachment is included in the email. |
| 7. | When you are finished adding the slate, click Save. If you want to create another slate, click Save and Create New. |
The slate is created and set to Active by default.
